The 23-year-old England international frontman has not featured since being stretchered off late on in the 1-0 Premier League win over Sunderland just under a month ago, having earlier netted the only goal of the game against the Black Cats.
At the end of this week, maybe he can start to train.Mauricio Pochettino
At the time Spurs estimated that Kane would be sidelined for between six and eight weeks and head coach Mauricio Pochettino is hopeful that the absence may be toward the lower end of that spectrum.
He told reporters ahead of a Saturday trip to The Hawthorns to take on West Brom: “At the end of this week, maybe he can start to train and touch the grass a little bit. He’s very positive, he’s doing well.
“We hope that next week he’ll be training on the grass, on the pitch – still not with the group – but we’re happy in the way he is recovering from his injury.”
Kane can be backed at 33/1 to be top goalscorer in the Premier League this season, with Romelu Lukaku 9/1 and Sergio Aguero priced at 11/8.
Meanwhile, Belgium international midfielder Mousa Dembele looks likely to be absent for Spurs in the Black Country, having suffered a foot problem during training.
The schemer has suffered a stop-start campaign to date, being suspended as the season began, before sustaining hamstring injury.
He had looked likely to be back in the fold for the clash with the Baggies, but Pochettino believes that that in ow unlikely.
The Argentinian added: “He had a minor problem in his hamstring against Sunderland. Then it was good, but he got a knock in his foot – an old problem – and now he’s recovering from that.
“It was in training. It’s minor, but it’s painful for him. When he touches the ball it’s painful for him.”
