Ten current Barça players have found the net against Los Colchoneros in La Liga — with Messi having the most success.
When taking on a notoriously strong defence, it is a big plus when you have players who are familiar with getting the better of them.
So, as FC Barcelona prepare to take on Atlético Madrid, the fact that ten players among Luis Enrique’s ranks have already found the net against the sturdy side from the capital, it will come as encouraging news.
Unsurprisingly, Leo Messi leads the way, with 21 goals in 20 games against Los Rojiblancos.
Neymar and Luis Suarez have each scored twice against the side managed by Diego Simeone, while Iniesta, Piqué and Busquets have scored once.
But then there are those of the current squad who have hit the net against Atléti while not wearing the blaugrana jersey.
Rakitic has done so twice while a Sevilla player, and former Valencia duo André Gomes and Paco Alcácer have each grabbed a goal as Los Che players. Aleix Vidal is another, as the full-back scored against Atlético when at Almeria in 2013.
On the other hand, Fernando Torres’ fine record against Barça is well-documented, with eight goals against the Catalans. Then there is Godin and Koke who have each scored past Barça as Colchoneros, while Griezmann hit two as a Sociedad player and Gameiro when at Sevilla.
