Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has backed Dele Alli to rediscover his best form and insists he is happy with the 20-year-old.
Alli has scored three Premier League goals this season – against West Brom, Stoke City and Manchester City – and is 3/1 to find the net at any time on Sunday in the north London derby against Arsenal.Spurs are on a poor run though, with Wednesday’s Champions League loss to Bayer Leverkusen at Wembley extending their winless sequence to six matches.
Alli scored ten goals in his first season with Spurs after moving to White Hart Lane from MK Dons, and Pochettino has urged the youngster to relax and is convinced he will soon return to the goal-trail.
Pochettino said: “I am happy with him, but he is still very young and this is his only his second season in the Premier League.
“Many things happened last season and sometimes he needs to breathe a little bit. He can’t keep his level in every game. Sometimes players might have some problems, such as illness.
“They are sometimes not at their best because they are human but I am very happy with him. It is just that some periods are good and others not so good.”
Spurs are 14/1 to beat the Gunners 2-1, while a 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium is available at 6/1.
