Тhe 27-year-old Belgium international is out of contract with his current club next summer and is confident that a move to Turin will be completed, having come close to agreeing a deal with the Italian champions last summer. Witsel told RTBF: “It’s always nice to hear that a club like Juventus are not giving up on me.
“Right now I’m not asking whether it will be in January or June, I’m just playing my matches and we’ll see what happens for me.
“But I will join Juventus, that will be the case. Right now I (just) don’t know when.”
Witsel joined Zenit in September 2012 from Benfica, having spent just one season with the Portuguese outfit after leaving his hometown club Standard Liege.
Meanwhile, Juve have confirmed that veteran defender Andrea Barzagli faces around two months out of action due to a shoulder injury.
The 35-year-old had to be stretchered off early on during the 2-1 win over Chievo last weekend and subsequent tests have shown that Barzagli suffered a dislocation in his left shoulder.
A statement from the Turin club confirmed: “The player will have to wear a protective brace for around four weeks. The current prognosis for his return is approximately two months.”
Juve, who are currently four points clear, are 1/7 to win Serie A for the sixth season in a row, with Roma priced at 8/1 and AC Milan available at 25/1.
