The German leads Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton by 19 points with two races of the 2016 Formula 1 season to go, meaning that if he takes the chequered flag the race for the title will be settled before the final Grand Prix of the campaign in Abu Dhabi. “I need to keep doing what helps me perform at my best and that’s going for the win every time” Nico Rosberg. And Rosberg, who has already won nine Grands Prix this season, as well as the last two stagings of the race in Brazil, says he will not back off from his intent to try and clinch another victory on Sunday.
He told reporters: “Mexico wasn’t ideal. I was going for the win as always, but Lewis was just a little bit faster all weekend.
“Sometimes you just have to accept that and be satisfied with your work. I’m not going to change my approach. I need to keep doing what helps me perform at my best and that’s going for the win every time.
“There are still two races to go and anything can happen in this sport, so I need to focus my energy on the factors that I have in my control.”
While Rosberg has previous success in Brazil to draw on, Hamilton has yet to take the chequered flag in the South American country, having finished second in each of the last two years.
Rosberg can be backed at 13/8 to complete a hat-trick of wins in Brazil and ensure that he wins the world title this weekend.
He is also available at 6/5 to be the fastest qualifier for the race and is 13/8 to set the fastest lap in the Grand Prix on Sunday.
