AC Milan boss Vincenzo Montella is refusing to panic in the wake of the Rossoneri’s 3-0 defeat to Genoa.
Milan had been praised to the hilt recently following their excellent start to the campaign, but their good run came to a halt in dramatic circumstances at Genoa.
Montella’s young and talented side had been unbeaten in their last six matches and had moved up to third in the Serie A table but fell behind at Stadio Luigi Ferraris when Nikola Ninkovic broke the deadlock.
After Gabriel Paletta had been sent off for Milan, a late own goal by Juraj Kucka and a Leonardo Pavoletti strike sealed the three points for Genoa.
However, Montella was in no mood to be downbeat after the match, saying: “You in the media created expectations of Milan, but we have always been calm.
“It was just a bump in the road and these things can happen. At times a defeat can help you grow more than a victory.
“The growth process continues and the players should be proud of what they have done. Obviously we can do more. The real Milan was seen over the last ten games and we are happy with the way the season is going.”
Milan host Pescara at San Siro on Sunday and are 6/1 to win the match 2-0 while they are 7/4 to clinch a top-three finish in Serie A this season.
