MARKO ARNAUTOVIC says he is reaping the rewards on the pitch after taking pressure off of his own shoulders over the past 12 months. The Austrian international enjoyed his most consistent campaign in professional football last season, as his 11 league goals helped the Potters to a third successive ninth place finish.
And whilst the 27-year-old forward has only managed to chip in with two goals in all competitions this term, he is convinced that it is only a matter of time before he rediscovers his goalscoring touch.
“Maybe I put too much pressure on myself previously, but now I am older and wiser I have learned to deal with things better,” he said in the build-up to Sunday’s live televised clash with Watford.
“I was always thinking about goals and assists before, and maybe that affected me a little bit, but now I go out and feel free and relaxed.
“Of course I want to score goals and help my teammates, and I showed last season that I can score many goals to help the team.”
He added: “I want that to be the case this season also – I have had many chances but they haven’t quite fallen for me yet, but I am sure that it will happen very soon.”
