It’ll be his first visit to the bet365 Stadium and first ever game in charge of the Potters.
He refereed Hull twice in the Championship last season; the 3-0 home win over Ipswich Town in October and the 2-1 defeat at Leeds United in December.
So far this season he’s officiated seven games including one in each of the previous rounds of the competition.
At the weekend he was at the City Ground as Norwich City came from behind to secure a 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest.
Kavanagh will be assisted by James Mainwaring and Nick Greenhalgh with Jeremy Simpson the fourth official.
