Pierre-Emerick Obameyang deserves to play in a more ambitious club than Arsenal, according to Gabon Football Association boss Allen Allen Mongengi. Mongengi encouraged his famous compatriot to continue to work hard to secure a transfer to a larger team.
Obameyang transferred to Emirates in January 2018 from Borussia Dortmund and has since established himself as one of the best strikers on the planet. He can boast 49 straight Premier League goals, but has not yet won a trophy with the Bats.
“I do not want to say that Arsenal are not ambitious, but they do not have the same high ambitions as other clubs in Europe. So if Pierre signs a contract with a more ambitious club, he will find his place. At the individual level we all consider him to be one of the best strikers in the world. Mongengi is not the only one who thinks that both need a new challenge. Even Arsenal legend Ian Wright has recently said that Oba can play at a higher level.
