Troubled Valencia have named the 59-year-old former Italy boss Cesare Prandelli as their eighth head coach in just over four years.
Prandelli, who has signed a contract that runs until June 2018, has been without a club since he was sacked by Galatasaray in November 2014.
The Italian will officially take charge of the club on Monday but will watch Los Che’s match against Atletico Madrid in La Liga on Sunday. Valencia are 7/2 to win the match while they are 18/1 to finish in the top four in La Liga this season.
Valencia lost their opening four games of the season under Pako Ayestaran, but have improved under caretaker Voro in the last few weeks and have beaten both Alaves and Leganes.
Voro said of Prandelli’s arrival: “Prandelli is a fine coach who has worked at the highest level and led his national team.
“I do not know him personally, but he is a great coach.”
Prandelli coached Italy between 2010 and 2014 and has also been in charge of Lecce, Verona, Venezia, Parma, Roma and Fiorentina during a managerial career that has spanned almost 20 years ago.
During his playing days, he starred for the likes of Cremonese, Atalanta and Juventus, 2/7 to win the Serie A title in 2016/17.
