Wrapping up the Tottenham transfer news, rumours and gossip in the 2022 summer window.
Davies signs new three-year deal
Tottenham defender Ben Davies admits it is an exciting time to be at the club after he extended his contract until 2025.
The Wales international, who moved to Spurs from Swansea eight years ago, has added an additional 12 months on to his previous deal.
“After last season and the summer this club has had there is no more exciting time than right now to be at this club,” he told the club’s official website.
“We’ve brought players in we hope will improve us as a squad and make us more competitive throughout the season.”
Conte: Bayern’s public interest in Kane ‘disrespectful’
Antonio Conte has criticised Bayern Munich for being “disrespectful” after publicly declaring their interest in Harry Kane.
Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann refused to rule out a move for the Tottenham striker after the German club’s chief executive Oliver Kahn had revealed earlier this week that it would be a “dream” to sign Kane.
The Bundesliga champions are searching for a replacement for Robert Lewandowski after the Polish forward joined Barcelona in a £42.5m deal this month.
Asked about Bayern’s pursuit of Kane, following Tottenham’s 2-1 pre-season win at Rangers, head coach Conte said: “Honestly I didn’t hear this. For sure I’m a coach who doesn’t talk about players from other teams.
“I don’t know why [this happened]. The situation at Tottenham is very clear. The plan is very clear with the club. Harry is a part of the project. He is a very important part of the project and yeah only rumours.
“At the same time, I don’t like to speak about players from another club. If I want to do something I go to speak to the club, not through the media.
Tottenham sign Spence in £20m deal
Tottenham have signed Djed Spence from Middlesbrough on a five-year contract in a deal worth up to £20m.
The right wing-back, who completed a medical at Hotspur Way on Friday, has signed until June 2027 after Spurs agreed a deal that will see them pay an initial £12.5m, with a further £7.5m coming in performance-related add-ons.
The 21-year-old made 46 appearances on loan for Nottingham Forest last season and there was a chance he might have joined Steve Cooper’s side on a permanent deal this summer.
But Spence has become Spurs’ sixth major signing of the season, following the arrivals of Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison and loanee Clement Lenglet.
Lenglet completes season-long loan move from Barcelona
Clement Lenglet has completed his loan move from Barcelona to Tottenham for the 2022/23 season.
The France defender, who made 27 appearances in all competitions for Barca last season, is a left-footed centre-back – a position Spurs have been targeting this summer.
Lenglet will join the Spurs squad travelling to South Korea for the beginning of their pre-season tour.
Ajax sign Bergwijn from Tottenham
Ajax have confirmed the signing of Steven Bergwijn from Tottenham for £26.4m on a five-year deal.
Spurs and Ajax finally reached an agreement over the transfer of the 24-year-old after the Dutch champions’ initial £20m offer was rejected in June.
Netherlands international Bergwijn has been keen on a move to Ajax for over a month after falling out of favour under Spurs boss Antonio Conte. The 24-year-old also played for Ajax at the youth level.
Spurs complete £60m Richarlison deal
Tottenham have completed the signing of Everton forward Richarlison in a deal worth £60m, with the Brazilian signing a five-year contract at Spurs.
Tottenham offered £40m in writing and Everton chairman Bill Kenwright initially went away, believing the offer was insufficient.
But a deal was later struck, with the north London side paying an initial £50m with a further £10m in add-ons as Richarlison completed his Spurs medical in Brazil.
Who have Tottenham been linked with?
Allan Saint-Maximin – Chelsea and Tottenham both want Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin but are being put off by his £40m price tag (The Sun, July 25); Newcastle could have to sell their prized asset Saint-Maximin in a bid to raise funds and offset their spending – with the Magpies struggling to offer the frustrated Frenchman a greater wage, leaving Premier League rivals such as Tottenham and Chelsea on alert (Daily Mail, June 23).
Nicolo Zaniolo – Tottenham have reportedly failed in an attempt to swap Joe Rodon for Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo. Antonio Conte also offered £25m, in addition to the centre-back, however, this was rebuffed by former manager Jose Mourinho (Daily Express, July 22). Tottenham could line up a swap deal with Roma in an attempt to get their hands on the Italian club’s winger Nicolo Zaniolo this summer (Daily Express, July 20).
Jules Kounde – Tottenham have emerged as serious contenders to sign the centre-back from Sevilla and hope the lure of the Premier League remains of interest to him after failed attempts to join Chelsea in the past (Daily Mirror, July 14).
Memphis Depay – Spurs remain keen on bringing the Barcelona forward back to the Premier League, but it appears the former Man Utd man would rather battle for his place at the Nou Camp (Daily Star, July 13).
Pau Torres – Tottenham are still keen on bolstering their defensive options this summer as they maintain an interest in Villarreal star Torres (Daily Mail, July 5).
Yannick Carrasco – Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham are exploring the prospect of signing Atletico Madrid star Carrasco this summer after his release clause emerged, according to reports in Spain (Daily Mirror, June 23).
Piero Hincapie – Antonio Conte has been informed that Bayern Leverkusen defender Hincapie will not be joining Tottenham as the Italian’s seventh summer signing (Daily Express, July 4).
Josko Gvardiol – Tottenham have opened talks with RB Leipzig over a deal to sign defender Gvardiol, but will face competition from Chelsea and Manchester United (The Sun, June 27)
The latest players linked with a Tottenham exit
Troy Parrott – Preston are set to sign Tottenham forward Troy Parrott on a season-long loan with the 20-year-old also expected to sign a new deal at Spurs ahead of the move (The Evening Standard, July 25).

Japhet Tanganga – Tottenham sporting director Fabio Paratici held talks with AC Milan on Thursday regarding Tanganga’s loan move (Daily Mail, July 22). Tanganga is reportedly drawing interest from Celtic, Bournemouth and Monaco, despite the fact his current employers have begun transfer talks with AC Milan over a move (Daily Express, July 22).
Sergio Reguilon – Tottenham have reportedly offered Reguilon to Barcelona on loan as Antonio Conte seeks to continue his squad shake-up this summer (Daily Express, July 21).
Heung-Min Son – Real Madrid are said to be eyeing up a move for Tottenham’s outstanding forward Son during the summer transfer window having missed out on moves for Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland (Daily Star, June 23).
