Mbappe can lead the next generation. Arsene Wenger believes Kylian Mbappe can be a leader of the next generation of great players, taking the baton from Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Frenchman Mbappe joined Paris Saint-Germain from Monaco in 2017, initially on loan and then for a fee of €145 million, and has become one of the most highly-rated forwards in the world.
The 21-year-old has scored 90 goals in 120 matches in all competitions for the capital club, winning three Ligue 1 titles and three French Cups.
It’s now about the next generation and the next generation may be French.
Mbappe finished top scorer in Ligue 1 this season with 18 goals, helping PSG win 22 of their 27 league assignments, and continues to dazzle with his blistering pace, mesmeric runs and great finishing ability.
Les Parisiens also advanced to the Champions League quarter-finals after beating Borussia Dortmund in the last 16.
The young forward has also impressed for his country, scoring 13 goals in 34 appearances, and was named Best Young Player at the 2018 World Cup, which France won after beating Croatia 4-2 in the final.
And former Arsenal boss Wenger, who managed the north London club between 1996 and 2018, believes Mbappe can go all the way to the top.
Speaking to talkSPORT, he said: “These players are now getting to an end—Ronaldo and Messi. It’s now about the next generation and the next generation may be French. At the moment, the leader could be Mbappe.”
