England head coach Eddie Jones will be sweating over the fitness of back-rower Billy Vunipola who could miss Saturday’s encounter with Fiji at Twickenham. The powerful number eight has been a key figure in the England pack, throughout their unbeaten season in 2016 so far.
However the Brisbane-born forward picked up a knock in the 37-21 victory over South Africa on Saturday and is now set to miss the next two days of training with the rest of the squad.
Jones will be hoping to have Vunipola’s physical presence on the field when they go head-to-head against the unpredictable Pacific Islanders this weekend.
Meanwhile lock Dave Attwood has had an injection for an ongoing knee injury and has been forced to return to his club side Bath for further treatment.
England are 10/11 to retain their Six Nations title in 2017, while Ireland are 7/2 to and Wales 3/1 to be crowned champions.
If Vunipola is to miss the enounter with the Fijians then Gloucester’s Ben Morgan could well be given the nod by Jones for the match.
Morgan has struggled to nail down regular rugby for England with Vunipola’s recent form and will be determined to impress if his given the No.8 jersey this weekend.
