Antonio Conte is already looking forward to Chelsea’s next match against Tottenham after watching his side edge to a 1-0 win at Middlesbrough on Sunday. Diego Costa prodded home the only goal of the match at the Riverside Stadium just before half time as the Blues made it six Premier League victories – and six clean sheets – in a row.
Chelsea have no European commitments this term after last season’s disappointing mid-table finish and, now that they are at the top of the table, Conte is determined to stay there.
The former Italy manager said: “I think that we are ready. We are ready to play many games in a few days because from the start of the season we worked a lot, not only on tactical aspect but also on the physical aspect.
“We continue to work because in this league it’s important to have, in every game, high intensity and to run from the start until the end.
“This game was different compared to the other games. When you’re winning only 1-0 you have to pay attention until the end. But now I repeat it’s important to think about the next game against Tottenham, [it is a] tough game, a massive game.”
Chelsea, 5/2 to win the Premier League title this season, are 6/4 to keep yet another clean sheet against Spurs on Saturday evening and 17/2 to beat Mauricio Pochettino’s side 2-0. Meanwhile, Costa is available at 9/4 to be the Premier League’s leading goalscorer this term.
