Grant and Ramadan handed starting debuts…
EGYPTIAN star Ramadan was handed his Stoke City starting debut on Wednesday night as boss Mark Hughes looked to lead his side through to the last 16 of the EFL Cup.
The 19-year-old, who arrived from Al Ahly in the summer, replaced Jonathan Walters on the right-hand side of midfield as Hughes made four changes to his starting line-up.
One of the four inclusions was goalkeeper Lee Grant, who was handed his first appearance for the Potters since signing from Derby County on deadline day.
There were also spots in the starting eleven for Erik Pieters and Giannelli Imbula – both of whom were dropped to the bench at Selhurst Park at the weekend.
17-year-old Academy starlet Thibaud Verlinden was named in the matchday squad for the first time after impressing for the U23 side.
Stoke City: Grant; Johnson, Shawcross, Martins Indi, Pieters; Imbula, Cameron; Arnautovic, Allen, Ramadan; Bony. Subs: Given, Bardsley, Muniesa, Adam, Verlinden, Diouf, Crouch.
Hull City: Marshall; Meyler, Maguire, Davies (c), Robertson; Mason, Weir, Henrikson, Maloney; Mbokani, Keane. Subs: Kuciak, Huddlestone, Diomande, Elmohamady, Tymon, Bowen, Olley.
