Stefano Okaka’s first two goals for Watford inspired a 3-2 victory over Everton at Vicarage Road.
After Romelu Lukaku put Everton in front from a pinpoint pass by Gareth Barry on his 609th Premier League appearance, Okaka levelled with a superb backheel from Nordin Amrabat’s cross.
Jose Holebas then provided two assists as Watford went 3-1 up after half-time, with Sebastian Prodl nodding in his left-wing free-kick before Okaka found the net with a glancing header from the defender’s 64th-minute corner.
Lukaku headed in Aaron Lennon’s cross as Everton launched a late fightback , but Watford moved one point above Ronald Koeman’s side before Saturday’s 3pm GMT matches.
