Liverpool have gone top of the Premier League thanks to a crushing 6-1 victory over Watford. Sadio Mane with two, Philippe Coutinho, Emre Can, Roberto Firmino and Georginio Wijnaldum scored the goals, Daryl Janmaat getting a late consolation for the Hornets.
Hopefully they come back healthy for a big challenge of Southampton. Jurgen Klopp
It takes Liverpool top of the table going into the international break, a point ahead of Chelsea in second with Manchester City and Arsenal a point further back.
Jurgen Klopp’s team are next in action when they play Southampton away on 19th November. They are 11/10 for the win, the Saints are 9/4 and the draw is priced at 5/2.
Liverpool are 11/4 to win by a one-goal margin.
After both Manchester City and Arsenal were held to draws earlier in the weekend, Liverpool went into the game at Anfield knowing that a win would put them clear at the top and they virtually ensured victory by half-time.
Mane gave them the lead with a header then Coutinho made it two just three minutes later. Can nodded home an Adam Lallana cross just before the break to effectively make the game safe.
They again scored two in three minutes in the second half, through Firmino and Mane and, after Watford scored their consolation, Wijnaldum made it six in the 91st minute to send the Reds top of the table in style.
Klopp said after the game that he hoped his players return fit after the international break.
Speaking to Sky Sports he said: “Good results and performances help confidence, we will send the players all around the world and hopefully they come back healthy for a big challenge of Southampton.
“There is nothing to celebrate in the moment, this is our responsibility to play well when you put on the red of Liverpool, It is all good until now.”
