Juan Mata is keen to play for Spain in Tuesday’s friendly against England at Wembley. The Manchester United playmaker insists that playing at Wembley is ‘special’ and he feels it will be extra-special to play against England in the national stadium. Mata was an unused substitute as Spain overcame Macedonia 4-0 in their World Cup qualifier in Los Carmenes on Saturday evening.
I know a lot of their players so it will be special for us.

The win means Julen Lopetegui’s side lead Group G on goal difference from Italy, both sides having taken ten points from their four games so far. Israel sit third with nine points from four games, while Albania have six points. Having not featured in the win over Macedonia, Mata says he is raring to go for the Wembley date with Gareth Southgate’s England.
“It’s always a special game when you play at Wembley,” he told the Manchester United website.
“I feel it is such a great venue to play football and this time it’s against England. I know a lot of their players so it will be special for us.
Mata, now 28, insists he still relishes the chance to play international football for his country.
“I’m always really happy to play for my country and be called up. It’s been a lot of years since I made my debut but I keep the same passion and emotion to play for my country so I am very happy and hopefully I can play.”
Spain are 7/5 to beat England on Tuesday. The Three Lions are 19/10 with the draw priced at 9/4.
