rnautovic and Allen on the mark

IT WAS a night of highs and lows for Stoke City’s international contingent – and in particular for Joe Allen.
The midfielder, fresh from earning the Potters a point at Manchester United last Sunday, gave Wales the lead in their World Cup qualifier against Austria in Vienna with a stunning strike but was later forced out of the action with a hamstring injury.

The extent of Allen’s problem is being assessed but Wales boss Chris Coleman has admitted he’s a doubt for Sunday’s home game against Georgia.
The game in Vienna will live long in the memory of another City star as Marko Arnautovic scored twice as Austria twice came from behind to secure a 2-2 draw.
Elsewhere, Jon Walters and Glenn Whelan helped the Republic of Ireland beat Georgia 1-0 in Dublin. Walters completed the 90 minutes, while Whelan joined the action as a substitute 10 minutes from time.
And Thibaud Verlinden helped Belgium’s U19 side record an emphatic 5-0 win over Kazakhstan in a European Championship qualification tie.
