Ibrahimovic issues United title vow

The 35-year-old former Sweden international striker, who joined the Red Devils on a Bosman free transfer in the summer following the end of his contract at French champions Paris Saint-Germain, took his season tally to six goals with a brace in Sunday’s 3-1 win at Swansea. The goals ended a two-month drought for Ibrahimovic and helped move United up to sixth in the table – six points adrift of Arsenal in the fourth Champions League qualification place.

Premier League leaders Liverpool are eight points ahead of Jose Mourinho’s side, but Ibrahimovic is certain that he can help United win their first title since Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season in charge in 2012-13.

“Hopefully I can win it, and I will win it,” he told the club’s website.

“We have been a little bit unlucky in certain games, but we believe. When you believe it will come.”

Ibrahimovic has won major titles at Barcelona, PSG and both Milan clubs, but he feels United are easily on par with all of his previous teams.

He added: “I have played at other massive clubs, every club is massive and if it was not massive it became massive when I came! Everything we do here is huge, it’s not local, it’s global, it’s to reach out worldwide.”

Ibrahimovic will watch from the sidelines when the Premier League returns with a home clash against Arsenal on Saturday 19th November because he picked up a fifth yellow card of the season at Swansea and faces a one-match ban.

United, who are 20/1 to win the Premier League, can be backed at 13/8 to defeat the fourth-placed Gunners, who are 13/8 to win and the draw is 23/10.
