Koeman had told the Belgian media that Lukaku had potential to play at a higher level than the Toffees could offer him, but Moshiri has dismissed suggestions that his manager was hinting at an exit in the near future. He told talkSPORT: “Koeman said he believes Romelu will develop into one of the best strikers in the world in the next two to three years and wouldn’t be out of place at his old club Barcelona. It is just player-coach talk.”
The vastly-experienced Koeman had earlier said to Belgian newspaper HLN when asked about the potential of Lukaku: “I gave him confidence and he has himself recognised that it was good for his development to play another year at Everton.
“There is a very good contact and appreciation between us. What after this season comes, no-one knows. “If Romelu was to play at Everton until the end of his career, I know he has left something (behind). His potential is greater and higher than Everton as a final destination.”
Lukaku has found the net seven times in the Premier League this season, while his total for the Toffees is 35 goals in 83 top-flight appearances.
He can be backed at 9/1 to be top scorer in the Premier League this season, with Tottenham Hotspur ace Harry Kane available at 33/1 and fellow Belgian, Eden Hazard of Chelsea, 25/1.
