Borussia Dortmund vs Hertha Berlin
German Bundesliga
Date: Friday, 14th October 2016,
Kick-Off at 14:30 UK
Venue: Signal Iduna Park, Dortmund.
Dortmund suffered their second win of the season on the matchday 6 by a 2-0 margin to Bayer Leverkusen. The start is not the ideal one their fans have expected this season. But under the current circumstances with at least six first team players still injured, Thomas Tuchel must be a satisfied man as they are just 4 points behind league leaders Bayern Munich. The test gets even tougher on matchday 7 as they welcome the second placed Hertha Berlin, who are playing some excellent football at the moment.
Hertha Berlin got back to winning ways against Hamburg after going on for two previous matches without a win. The defeat against Bayern Munich on matchday 4 was followed by a thrilling 3-3 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt. Goals from Ibisevic on either halves gave the Berliners a 2-0 win on matchday 7 against Hamburg, which fired them to second place in the table.
Dortmund were victorious by a 3-1 margin in the corresponding fixture of last season, while the reverse leg end in a goal-less draw. The teams also met in the DFB Pokal last at Berlin last season, which ended in a 3-1 win for Dortmund.
After six match-days, Dortmund have won 4 and lost 2 and each of the defeats have come away from home. While their three home wins have come with comfortable margin scoring 11 goals in total to 2 conceded. Also, Dortmund’s last league defeat at home has to be dated back to April 2015. An unbeaten run of 41 matches at home with 38 of them being wins.
Hertha Berlin’s overall away record is inconsistent. The win against Ingolstadt on the opening week of the current season is their only win in the last 8 away matches in Bundesliga. The statistic analytic are backing the home side for a win, but too many injuries could dent their chances here. Also Hertha have made a brilliant start to the 2016 season.
The one thing that both these sides have proved this season is their brilliance in attacking department. As a reason, it is better off looking into the goal markets. Because, we feel there is a good chance of this match swinging to either sides over different periods of play.
