Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin faces several weeks out of action due to an ankle injury, but the Gunners hope to have Alexis Sanchez available this weekend. Spanish defender Bellerin was injured late on in the 1-1 draw with Tottenham the weekend before last and is set to be missing for around a month due to ligament damage, meaning that he definitely sits out the Old Trafford clash with Manchester United on Saturday.
I will see him (Sanchez) tomorrow and see if he can be involved in the squad or not. Arsene Wenger
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, who has Carl Jenkinson and Mathieu Debuchy as possible replacements, told his pre-match press conference: “Hector is out for four weeks. He got injured in the last ten seconds against Tottenham in a very strong tackle from (Danny) Rose.”
In the absence of Bellerin, the Gunners are 5/2 to keep a clean sheet in Manchester and are 23/10 to secure a draw, with the visitors 9/1 to win the game by a 1-0 scoreline.
Meanwhile, Wenger will take a good look at Sanchez in training on Friday, with the striker having overcome hamstring trouble to score twice in a 3-1 World Cup qualifying win for Chile at home to Uruguay on Tuesday.
“He texted us back that he was in good shape after the game,” Wenger added. “I will see him tomorrow and see if he can be involved in the squad or not.
“I don’t know how bad his injury was. I understand completely that Alexis wanted to play, these are qualifiers they aren’t friendly games.
“What I will consider is the risk of injury, because he played recovering from a hamstring injury. It depends a lot on the honesty of the player.”
Playmaker Santi Cazorla is another definite absentee of the Old Trafford clash, with the Spain international still unsure about quite when he will be able to return to the fold after an Achilles problem.
