Goalscoring midfielder delighted with United point…
JOE ALLEN believes Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United will provide the Potters the perfect springboard to climb up the Premier League table.
The Welsh international thumped home his second goal in as many games 13 minutes after Anthony Martial’s opener to claim his side a first point at Old Trafford since 1980.
The result lifts Mark Hughes’ side off the foot of the table and gives the side plenty of optimism ahead of their next fixture against Sunderland, at the bet365 Stadium, in two weeks’ time.
Speaking to bet365 following the encounter, the 26-year-old said: “It’s great to come here and get a point, especially having fallen behind.
“It’s been a really positive day for the Club and hopefully we can build on this and really start driving forward.
“Today’s performance speaks for itself but I think the previous two were good too – in their own way – although results weren’t quite what we wanted.
“I am sure the fans will have seen the progression we have made over the past couple of weeks and will be looking forward, just as we are, with optimism.”
The energetic midfielder, who drew praise from manager Mark Hughes following the game, was also delighted to have hit the back of the net for a second successive weekend.
“It’s not often that I have been able to score in consecutive weeks, so I will enjoy this,” he smiled.
“They weren’t the most eye-catching of goals but they all count and I will take them – now I just want to add a few more to my tally over the season.”
