Wilshere is likely to be in the squad for this Saturday’s clash with Manchester City

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe admits he is anxious to see Jack Wilshere in his starting line-up but insists he will not take a chance on his fitness.

The Cherries pulled off a major coup during the summer transfer window to sign the England international on loan from Arsenal but are having to be patient with him.

The 24-year-old has been beset with injury problems for two years and missed the majority of last season with a leg injury.

Howe, therefore, decided to start Wilshere on the bench for last weekend’s win over West Brom, introducing him into the action after 63 minutes.

The Bournemouth boss says he was very impressed with what he saw of the Arsenal man and can not wait to see him get back to full fitness.

Howe is determined not to push the midfielder though as they the club work on a personalised fitness programme with Wilshere.

“With the outstanding quality he has, there’s no doubt about that. We’d like to see him in the team as quickly as possible,” he said.

Wilshere is likely to be in the squad for this Saturday’s clash with Manchester City as Bournemouth go in search of their second win of the season.

City have won four out of in the Premier League this far and are 2/7 to extend that run against the Cherries.

The visitors to the Etihad Stadium are 10/1, while the draw is 19/4.

Meanwhile, Wilshere is 11/1 to score first goal for Bournemouth at anytime on Saturday.
