Swansea City vs Burnley
England – Premier League
Date: Saturday, 10 February 2018
Kick-Off at 15:00 UK
Venue: Liberty Stadium (Swansea).
Carlos Carvalhal is doing miracles with the team that everyone saw in the Championship next term. Everyone but the former Sheffield Wednesday’s boss who has really managed to shift the Swans’ fortunes around since taking charge recently. The Welsh outfit have not only grabbed themselves a massive survival lifeline, but they’ve escaped the drop zone and they’ll come into this unbeaten in last four league ties (season’s best record for this team).
Can Swansea City extend such fine run on Saturday when seventh placed Burnley come to visit? It should definitely not be a mission impossible for the hosts if we know that Clarets are winless in last ten games in all competitions. However, Sean Dyche and his men will enter this having gained a major confidence boost last weekend when they held mighty table-toppers Manchester City to a 1-1 draw at Turf Moor.
With this result under their belts, the ending of a poor spell of form against the relegation strugglers would not be a shock at all. Nonetheless, Dyche will have massive troubles with sidelined players here since he won’t be able to count on services of his top scorer Chris Wood and an important figure in the center of the park Steven Defour who are both out due to injuries.
Burnley’s most recent matches have thus been very short on goalmouth action (none of last four went in Over 2.50 goals) even though the team strengthened their attacking line with the like of Nahki Wells who is yet to start producing up front (no goals in five appearances).
Swansea City vs Burnley: Head-to-head
Swansea City lead the head to head tie by three wins, but we must mention that they have been much more dominant at Liberty winning four, drawing one and losing one of six matches against Clarets.
Only one of last five H2H games has seen both teams on the scoresheet.
The Swans have won each of last three home outings and four of last five overall against Burnley.
Swansea City vs Burnley: Prediction
The Swans have destroyed Notts County in mid-week’s FA Cup action netting as many as eight goals past the League Two opposition.
They will certainly not bag nowhere near this amount against the stern defensive line of Burnley’s, but we do see the value in backing the home win at 2.40 since both the H2H tradition and their form under Carvalhal strongly suggest such scenario.
Burnley have been struggling badly for goals of late and backing the hosts to keep things tight at the back seems to be another decent call at the same odds.
