RB Leipzig vs Napoli
UEFA Europa League
Date: Thursday, 22 February 2018
Kick-Off at 18:00 UK
Venue: Red Bull Areba (Leipzig).
RB Leipzig have done a massive job seven days ago when they notched three goals past Napoli to make a major step towards the last 16 round of the competition. In fairness, Maurizio Sarri’s men showed a clear lack of interest to make a deep run in Europa League given they have the pole in the contest for Scudetto title in Italian Serie A.
Partinopei have kept the one-point cushion ahead of the second-placed Juventus after a narrow 1-0 victory over the relegation-threatened SPAL on Sunday. It was Allan whose early goal made the difference for Sarri’s side. Napoli have a trip to Cagliari to make on Monday in the next round of Serie A and we’d not be surprised to see Sarri mixing up his cards in this rematch with the Bulls.
The Germans have thus made a dream debut in Europa League and we expect them to keep the good form going here and see off the non-motivated Napoli side once again, this time in front of the home crowd. The team led by Ralph Hasenhuttl seems to have regained the fighting spirit about them as the win over Napoli was third on the trot across competitions for the Bulls.
RB Leipzig vs Napoli: Head-to-head
The match played at Stadio San Paolo was the first ever head to head meeting between these two sides.
Algerian midfielder Adam Ounas bagged his first goal in Napoli’s shirt to give Partinopei the lead early in the second half, but Leipzig’s talisman Timo Werner inspired the comeback with a brace later on.
RB Leipzig vs Napoli: Prediction
The motivation will be the biggest factor in making the difference between these two teams on Thursday.
We can thus see the value in backing RB Leipzig to clinch another win and book their place in the last 16 round of the competition.
