PSG vs Lille
French – Ligue 1
Date: Saturday, 9th December 2017
Kick off at 16:00 UK/ 17:00 CET
Venue: Parc des Princes (Paris).
PSG are 9 points clear in the league and lost their first game of the season last week. For most teams this period of time would not be called a crisis, but there are genuine hints that not all is well in the PSG camp. Following the clubs shock loss at Strasbourg last week they also lost against Bayern Munich in the Champions League. Suddenly after being unbeaten in all competitions this season the Parisians have lost two games in a row.
There are also problems between star strikers Neymar and Edinson Cavani and it seems inevitable that one of those players will not be playing for the club next season. Clearly there is no love lost between the two forwards who continue to squabble over taking penalties. Still on the bright side PSG are in a fantastic position to win the league and they did qualify on top spot in their Champions League group.
In Paris the team look unstoppable where they have a 100% record from 8 games. They are averaging 3 goals a game and have conceded only 5 goals. They will despite this mini crisis be huge odds on favourites to win this match.
Lille may take some confidence in PSG’s shaky week but they will be realistic to the fact that they will be defending and trying to soak up pressure for much of the game. The 17th placed team are themselves on form with two wins in a row. But from 8 away games they have lost five and this match will be an uphill task from the first whistle.
