Newcastle United vs Manchester United
England – Premier League
Date: Sunday, 11 February 2018
Kick-Off at 14:15 UK
Venue: St. James’ Park (Newcastle upon Tyne).
Manchester United have successfully returned on the winning ways beating Huddersfield Town 2-0 at Old Trafford last time out. Since their main rivals in the top five of the league standings have all slipped up, the Red Devils are now five points clear off Liverpool in third and they will travel to St. James’ Park in high spirits this Sunday.
The most recent acquisition of Jose Mourinho’s, Alexis Sanchez, has bagged his first goal in Man Utd’s shirt eight days ago when he contributed to a comf0rtable 2-0 win over the Terriers., Romelu Lukaku has also instilled some confidence into this by adding his name on the scoresheet as well and this duo is expected to lead United towards the success against another promoted side here.
Newcastle United have had somewhat of a rollercoaster campaign throughout the season. Rafael Benitez aimed for the potential top half finish, but the Magpies have just not been pulling any trees on that field. The hosts will have a massive job saving the elite class status come May since they are only a single point above the drop line ahead of Manchester’s trip.
Newcastle’s main problems are connected to the lack of the inspiration in the final third as their star man Dwight Gayle has failed to match last term’s record from Championship netting only three goals so far in the top flight. Overall, the Magpies have scored no more than twice on last three occasions across competitions and they are clearly going to struggle to improve these numbers against the league’s best defensive team.
Newcastle United vs Manchester United: Head-to-head
Last two head to head matches between these rivals have produced as many as 11 goals in total.
The Red Devils have been pretty inspired when Newcastle visited Old Trafford in this term, clinching a 4-1 win in mid-November.
Overall, Manchester United have won four and drawn two of last six head games against the Magpies.
Newcastle United vs Manchester United: Prediction
Manchester United should not have too many troubles clinching the spoils at St. James’ Park if we know that they’ve won five of last seven away matches in the Premier League.
Benitez’s side have lost five and drawn three of last eight home games in the league netting no more than two goals in last five EPL outings at St. James’ Park.
Manchester Utd allowed only 18 goals in 26 rounds (league’s best), and backing the away win & the visitors to keep a clean sheet is just the way to go about here.
