Las Palmas vs Malaga
Spain – La Liga
Date: Monday, 5 February 2018
Kick-Off at 20:00 UK
Venue: Estadio de Gran Canaria (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria).
League’s bottom two are set to take on each other in a genuine relegation six-pointer on Monday evening at Estadio de Gran Canaria. Las Palmas are in a somewhat better position being a single point above the Anchovies who sit rock-bottom, but it is crystal clear that a defeat here would most likely mean the drop to Segunda Division for each of these two sides.
The Canaries have been struggling badly to keep things tight at the back throughout the entire season. They’ve conceded as many as 50 goals in 21 matches so far and keeping their net untouched will be the major challenge for the team led by Paco Jemez here.
Nonetheless, we have to praise Jemez for improving his side’s displays in the last couple of fixtures. Las Palmas first managed to stun Valencia 2-1 at home two weeks ago in spite of conceding an early opener. Last Sunday, the Canaries had a tough trip to the capital to make playing Atletico Madrid. However, Las Palmas held it out to a goalless first half and only Antoine Griezmann’s moment of inspiration has opened them up at Estadio Wanda Metropolitano.
Malaga, on the other side, have had huge issue s with finding the back of the net of late and they’ve only scored a single goal in last six league outings. They have not conceded many goals either, but someone will have to start producing up front if the Anchovies want to reach the safe zone come May.
Las Palmas vs Malaga: Head-to-head
The teams have six wins apiece coming into their 18th H2H encounter.
Las Palmas have been pretty dominant at home, winning five and losing just one of nine matches there.
The Canaries came on top when the two teams met earlier in this term of La Liga, back in mid-September when they’ve snatched a 1-3 win from Estadio La Rosaleda.
