Gareth Bale came off the bench to score the winner as Real Madrid advanced to the Club World Cup final with a 2-1 win against Al Jazira in Abu Dhabi.
Having dominated the first half, the European champions went 1-0 down five minutes before half-time after a goal from Brazilian forward Romarinho.
However, Cristiano Ronaldo equalised early in the second half and Bale slotted past substitute goalkeeper Khaled Al Senaani just seconds after leaving the bench.
Bale, who is making his return from a calf injury, said afterwards: “It’s great to score. You want to have an impact when you come on as a sub, but the most important thing is that we’ve won and we’re in the final.
“I have to improve a bit, but I have to be patient. I’ve had a few problems, I have to listen to my body but I’m going to work hard both on and off the pitch to get back to where I want to be.”
