Everton vs Crystal Palace
England – Premier League
Date: Saturday, 10 February 2018
Kick-Off at 15:00 UK
Venue: Goodison Park (Liverpool).
Can Everton rebound from a devastating 5-1 loss away at Arsenal on Saturday when they host Crystal Palace at Goodison? The Toffees have generally had a rollercoaster campaign packed with ups and downs so far in the season which has halted their push for European football next term. Their current goal is at least securing a top half finish which is definitely achievable, but it could be in jeopardize with a potential failure to bottom-half Crystal Palace here.
The Glaziers have had a dreadful start to the campaign, but Roy Hodgson has managed to install the fighting mentality into them and Crystal Palace are now three points adrift of the drop zone at this stage. Nonetheless, their form seems to be looking at the slump at the moment with the team winning only a single of last five matches in all competitions. Additionally, Hodgson’s men are winless in last three have won just two points from last three league ties which is kind of a disappointing return if we know that the opposition included West Ham United and Newcastle United.
The Toffees should thus have a fair chance to bounce back, particularly if they can build on the fine performance from the previous home encounter when the most recent acquisition Theo Walcott bagged a brace to give Sam Allardyce’s side a three-pointer against Leicester City. The win over the Foxes has made it five wins, two draws and one defeat from last eight home fixtures in the Premier League for the Toffees which is by no means a poor record if we know that they’ve played the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United at Goodison in the process.
Everton vs Crystal Palace: Head-to-head
Everton only lead the H2H tie by three wins ahead of their 36th encounter with the Glaziers.
Crystal Palace are winless in last six meetings against the Toffees, but four of these ended without a winner.
Only one of last six H2H matches saw three or more goals, and it was just the one played in this term when the teams shared spoils in a 2-2 draw at Selhurst Park.
Everton vs Crystal Palace: Prediction
Everton have been collecting points regularly in front of the home crowd of late and we can hardly see them fail against the team which comes to Liverpool winless in last three league ties.
Also, since each of last four games the Glaziers played away from Selhurst Park has seen both teams on target, it’s hard to miss the value in the 1.95 odds offered for the home win pick.
